Position Title:         Camara Tanzania Hub CEO

Background

Camara Education Ltd is an international education organisation dedicated to delivering real impact through technology by inspiring and empowering a young generation to improve their own life opportunities.

Founded in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland, Camara has built a proven model of ‘education delivery’ that is both sustainable and highly scalable. Camara is a registered charity in the US, Ireland and the UK. It currently operates five Education Hubs in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Lesotho and Tanzania), and one in Ireland, alongside a Resource Hub in Dublin and London. All Hubs operate as social enterprises and operate to serve local market needs through a sustainable business model.
Since 2005, Camara has enabled over 2 million young people to achieve better educational outcomes and thus improve their life opportunities, through raising and generating €24m, training 26,000+ teachers across 5,300 schools and educational institutes, and installing 90,000+ ICT devices.

The Hub CEO will provide leadership and direction, and coordinate all activities of the local Hub to achieve its targets set with the Camara Tanzania Board, and in accordance with the organisational strategy and agreed plans with Camara Education Limited.

Key Responsibilities:
Management
Develop and follow a strategic plan for the hub in coordination with staff and hub management team
Build on and develop the social enterprise business model to sustain the hub’s core operations
Ensure that all financial and non-financial reporting requirements are met in a timely and regular basis.
Ensure compliance with all local legislation and regulatory bodies.

Leadership
Build and maintain a high performance culture through effective performance management, communication and coaching of staff.
Provide clear leadership and promote and foster a team culture consistent with the organisation’s values.
Ensure the recruitment of appropriately skilled staff and volunteers to positions, and establish appropriate remuneration levels and performance based conditions for staff within the framework agreed to by the Camara Tanzania Board and Camara Education Limited.

Business Development
Develop the network of Camara Schools and wider customer base
Develop and maintain a relationship with the Ministry of Education and other relevant government and non-government bodies in Tanzania and in East Africa
Promote the Camara brand locally.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
A Business degree (preferable)
5+ years business (including management) experience in Tanzania (preferable)
Experience working in Africa (essential)
Entrepreneurial track record (essential)
Fluent in English (essential)
Strong leadership skills (essential)
All ordinarily resident applicants who are not Tanzanian citizens must have the required work and/or permanent residency permits to be eligible for consideration (essential)
