THE ROLE


The Youth Leadership Team (YLT) is a group of Canadian Volunteers that will work together to strengthen and energise the 12 EQWIP HUBs in Bolivia, Peru, Ghana, Senegal, Tanzania or Indonesia. YLTs will work closely with local youth at the HUB to help enhance their connections and entry-points to the project and articulate youth experiences, with the goal of promoting lively, energized, knowledge-driven and youth-friendly spaces. The YLTs will report directly to the Hub Coordinator with technical support provided by the Knowledge and Learning Manager (KLM) and operational day-to-day support provided by the Volunteer Coordinator. Informed and driven by youth experiences and input, the YLT will work collaboratively by building youth-friendly HUB spaces and by encouraging youth contribution to project knowledge and learning. As a YLT participant, you are a young professional (age 20-24) with a passion for youth livelihoods, learning, monitoring and evaluation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Research youth experiences and perspectives through surveys, focus groups and interviews

· Transfer data into information that can be used to improve the youth experience (data processing, analysis, story-writing, infographics, video, newsletters etc)

· Share youth experiences articulated in the research with local stakeholders, project staff, youth, volunteers and other HUBs

· Based on the input and perspectives gathered from youth, develop and implement a plan to offer creative after-hours activities and events that complement their training experience

· Using an evidence-based approach relating to country-context and youth feedback, improve HUB spaces to raise the profile of the HUB and the project to attract youth participants

QUALIFICATIONS

· Background in social science, international development, business, communications or related field

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for this position, including strong writing and oral skills and a collaborative team approach

· Experience working with youth is strongly preferred

· Cross-cultural experience is preferred

· Experience with training or facilitation is an asset
